Out on a Limb is a first-person, single player virtual reality (VR) game being developed for the Oculus Rift. The game takes place at the headquarters of B.E.T.A., a powerful corporation that has monopolized the market for biological augmentations: a trend that is highly sought after by all, but a luxury that is accessible only to the wealthiest and most elite members of society.
You, the player, have been chosen as the lucky test subject for B.E.T.A.’s newest cybernetic arm prototype, which provides the bearer with three distinct superhuman abilities: manipulating the gravity surrounding objects in a manner similar to telekinesis, freezing the gravity or momentum attached to objects, and moving around an environment in a manner similar to teleportation.
As the test subject for B.E.T.A.’s new cybernetic arm prototype, you will be tasked with completing a series of testing scenarios to help the company evaluate the viability of their new product. These tests will be presented in the form of two separate levels. Each level resides in a different sector of the B.E.T.A. headquarters tower, with each sector representing a self-contained series of puzzles with increasing complexity. The puzzles contained therein will require you to apply your spatial reasoning, pattern recognition, and problem solving skills in order to complete them and proceed to the next sector. If you have what it takes to complete the tests, you just might find a surprise waiting for you at the end.
